The Saffron Goddess

6/1/2020

The beautiful Goddess Potnia is coming alive again after being buried in Akrotiri under volcanic ashes for over 3000 years.
Detail of the finished painting “Potnia in Akrotiri”. Watercolor and acrylic on watercolor paper. She is also known as the Goddess and protector of animals and the Saffron Goddess. This painting is created by intertwining and overlapping several mural paintings found during the excavations in Akrotiri. She is part of my Unesco World Heritage Site series. She is next on my wishlist to visit! # akrotiri #theragreece #greekgoddesses #portlandartist #unescoworldheritage #unescoworldheritagesite #unescosite #unesco
